Mallards Movies

Two guys watching random movies and giving our genuine thoughts on them.

  • May 2026: Week 3 – The Hustle (2019) In Time (2011)

This week’s pick was a doozy, and that’s putting it lightly. I chose The Hustle (2019) for three reasons: I had never heard of this movie, I enjoy Anne Hathaway (usually) and Rebel Wilson (usually). I put “usually” in quotation marks, because this was not one of those times. I absolutely hated this movie. It… Read more

  • May 2026 – Week 2: Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) Love & Friendship (2016)

For the second week of May, I selected Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). I will start this review off by saying I am not a superhero movie fan; I have seen maybe five or so movies out of the entire MCU Franchise, and unless more pop up on the draft for this blog, I will… Read more

  • May 2026: Week 1 – The French Connection (1971) The Land Before Time (1988)

I lucked out for the first week of May by not only picking a movie I had seen previously, but also getting a beloved classic, 1971’s The French Connection. This movie was a resounding success, with a budget of $1.8 million and a worldwide gross of over $50 million, not to mention eight Oscar nominations,… Read more

  • April 2026: Week 4 – Meg 2: The Trench (2023) Ghostbusters (2016)

For the last week of April’s movies, I was “stuck” with Meg 2: The Trench (2023). This is a movie I normally would not choose to watch for a movie night, as I am not typically into Hollywood Action Flicks. I went into this one with no expectations whatsoever. And to be entirely honest, I… Read more

  • April 2026: Week 3 – Captivity (2007) Robocop 3 (1993)

Pointlessly grotesque.  0 mallards/5 -Seann In keeping with the tradition of not watching prequels if assigned a sequel, I did not refresh my memory on the lore of Robocop. I did not re-watch Robocop (1987), nor did I watch for the first time Robocop 2 (1990). Luckily, I don’t think anything was lost from my… Read more

  • April 2026: Week 2 – Rob Peace (2024) Scarface (1932)

My movie for this week is one I had never heard of before, Rob Peace (2024). I had no expectations when sitting down to watch it, all I knew was the one sentence blurb from IMDB explaining it as a drama about a son and a father who is convicted of a crime he may… Read more

  • April 2026: Week 1 – The Running Man (1987) The Guard (2011)

For the first week of April, I selected The Running Man (1987) as my movie. This is a movie I had seen with my dad countless times as a kid, he adored cheesy action packed films like this. I remember we owned it both on blu-ray and DVD, and I’m sure he even had it… Read more

  • March 2026: Week 4 – Black Snake Moan (2007) Open Water 2: Adrift (2006)

This week I was stuck with Black Snake Moan (2007) for the final movie of March’s draft. I knew only two things going into this movie, the first that it was Justin Timberlake’s first feature film he ever starred in (which is a stretch to say as I’m pretty sure he had a total screen… Read more
